Together, Lowe’s and Habitat for Humanity built International Women Build on a foundation of strength, resilience, and perseverance. This year’s Women Build will take place in August 2021 on our new 5-house development in downtown Jackson.
A global event, Women Build focuses on raising awareness of the challenges women face in accessing safe, affordable housing. In Jackson, 1 in 6 households pay half or more of their income on their home. Women are disproportionately affected by this severe cost-burden. Women make up a larger share of Jackson households living in poverty as well as receiving government-subsidized housing.
At Greater Jackson Habitat for Humanity we know that safe, affordable housing means that individuals and families have the opportunity to thrive. However, women face challenges that make it more difficult to access this basic need.
Women Build is a unique opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of Jackson women and children. All money raised during this event will support the building of Habitat homes in Jackson County. For our 2021 Women Build, Greater Jackson Habitat is partnering with a group of change-making women in the community to raise awareness on the disparity that exists in homeownership. Join the movement!
As a Campaign Lead, you will have the opportunity to raise funds and awareness on housing issues!
Building is part of the solution, but the less visible aspects of housing like laws, regulations, systems, and rules about land and the built environment are critical components, too.
Learn about the ways Habitat for Humanity is advocating for sustainable and inclusive policies and systems and how you can get involved!
